Peace Begins with Me
-Mrs. Selma Gonsalves
“An eye for an eye will make the whole blind”-Mahatma Gandhi
Inspired by the above quote by our beloved Mahatma Gandhi, the children of class 5A through their assembly reminded that we should conquer hatred with love. On 26th November, 2019 the students of standard 5A, under the guidance of their class teacher Mrs. Selma Gonsalves conducted their assembly on the theme ‘Peace Begins with me’.
The assembly began with a peaceful meditation that helped calm our hearts and minds. The children then enacted a skit in which the quarrelling students realised their mistake through the timely intervention of their teacher. They resolved never to quarrel again or hurt anyone. The children conveyed the message that we can make this world a much peaceful and better place. It is important for us to look for ways to solve the issues with mutual understanding and respect. If our anger and violence is not nipped in the bud, it will lead to disastrous consequences not only for us but also for the society.
The skit also highlighted the tragic event of 26th November 2008, the day Mumbai was attacked by the terrorists of Lashkar-e-taiba, killing more than 200 people and injuring 300 people.
The Rector, Father Crispino D’souza congratulated the students and their class teacher for a well planned assembly. Through a Question and Answer session with the students, Father Crispino beautifully brought out the message that in life we need to do things with love and not out of fear, as perfect love drives out all fear.
The Principal, Father Bernard Fernandes, encouraged children to adopt Father Rector’s message and put them into practice in their daily life. He reminded the students of the importance of regular practice, hard work and cooperation for a good assembly.
