Women’s Day Celebration

A woman is a symbol of love and is God’s finest and most beautiful creation. To honour women in the world, International Women’s Day is celebrated on March 8 every year. It is an important occasion to appreciate the role played by a woman in society.
The Primary section of Don Bosco High School Matunga celebrated International Women’s Day on March 11, 2020 in the Primary staffroom during the short recess. Fr. Bernard Fernandes, Principal of the school accompanied by the gent staff thoughtfully organized a meaningful and heart touching programme. The celebration was planned in advance and was well organized. Sir Manoj Koli, a Secondary school teacher, addressed the lady staff of the Primary Section with kind words. He appreciated all the women and the significant role they play in daily life. Every lady staff member was felicitated with a rose, bookmark and an attractive and useful gift. The gentlemen wished their lady colleagues and presented them with these small tokens of appreciation filled with gratitude and love. Fr. Bernard Fernandes led the staff into prayer invoking God’s benevolence on each one present for this occasion.
The Women’s Day celebration was a memorable day for all the lady staff members and all were overwhelmed by the kindness love and appreciation showered upon them by the male faculty. Some ladies in the staff came dressed in purple which was the colour for the day. The programme ended with sumptuous snacks. Mrs. Kashmira Rodrigues proposed a vote of thanks and the Head Teacher Mrs. Griselda Fernandes presented a card to the Principal on behalf of all the lady staff members for the thoughtful gesture by the male staff to make this day a special one for the women.
