The Secondary PTA Executive body meets in the new academic year

The elected representatives of each class attended the Secondary PTA Executive Committee meeting held on 29th of June 2019 at 3:00 pm in the conference hall. The meeting began with a short prayer by Fr. Elson Baretto, followed by the reading of the summary of the minutes of the last PTA Executive Committee meeting held in April 2019 and the summary of the General body PTA meetings held at the beginning of new academic year. The Principal Fr. Bernard Fernandes welcomed the core PTA body in the new academic year and thanked the members for being part of the group to take the school forward in its vision and mission. He requested the parents to volunteer as candidates to contest for the post of a Vice President and the Joint Secretary. The elected members of the PTA and the staff voted for these two posts. Dr. Sanjay Bhagalia was elected the Vice President and Mrs. Smita Birhade as the Joint Secretary. The other office bearers are: President-Principal Fr. Bernard Fernandes, Secretary – Mrs. Perpetual Nazareth and Joint Secretary-Mrs. Bindu Keny.
The school administrator Fr. Elson spoke on the new developments in the school and mentioned that with the space crunch in the school for activities, there are plans to increase the space for our students on the campus. The Secondary school coordinator, Sir Rai made a mention of the remedial classes which are conducted by the school and that the staff at Don Bosco, Matunga is always committed to the weak students and the children with learning difficulties. The school counsellor, Ms. Arnaaz outlined the importance of the counselling that takes places in school and the sessions conducted presently by the DBIS Counsellor Ms. Bindu Chaddha for our students of standard 10. Fr. Principal explained the School Policy document which includes Discipline, Behavior, Child Protection, Environment, Canteen, Transport, Sports and Admission, and the related committees to monitor these policies. The policies will be in effect from this academic year.
The members of the staff presented the various academic developments and co-curricular activities i.e. speech and drama by Raell Padamsee, Nalanda Project in Mathematics, Mykensho career guidance program, the Intellinects powered achool app, developments in the concept teaching and learning of Science and English, research projects, field trips for Std V to VIII, Bosco Kala Utsav, House days, class picnics and retreat/recollection sessions for the students.
The Principal, Fr. Bernard asked the parents for their queries and interventions, and being the first meeting, explained that the procedures followed for other points that need to be included in the agenda with prior intimation and permission from the chair. Fr. Bernard then proposed a vote of thanks to the parents and the staff members. The meeting ended on a cordial note.
