-Mrs. Kashmira Rodrigues

Ho! Ho! Ho! Good tidings to One and All!
In keeping with the theme for this year ‘Journey together with Joy and Holiness’ the Christmas spirit was ushered in by the students of Std IV who celebrated their Cultural Day on December 18,2019 in the Bianchi hall at 11 a.m. The decor created a beautiful ambiance of the festival of Christmas. The hall and stairways was decorated with flowers and drapes which were very beautiful and welcoming. The backdrop was in keeping with the’theme ‘The New Born Light will spread Joy.’ The boys of Std IV regaled the audience with a warm welcome, melodious singing, graceful dancing and true to life acting. This cultural day will always be remembered, not only by the teachers and the students, but also Rev Fr Bernard, who completed the silver jubilee of his ordination on this very day.
The day began with an introduction and welcome song and dance by the boys of Std 4D. This was followed by a prayer dance by Std 4 B to invoke God blessings on the gathering. The members of the Management were felicitated with a token of appreciation and love. Rev. Fr. Crispino the Rector reminded the audience that the Lord is at the centre of all merry making and festivities and the Christmas season must touch our hearts. Rev. Fr. Bernard was felicitated by the students of Std 4D who spoke a few words of gratitude and appreciated him for all that he does for the Kingdom of God and the institution. Rev Fr. Bernard then sliced the cake as everyone sang the ‘Congratulations’ song. Std IV C performed the wonderful skit ‘Christmas Nativity’, which highlighted the importance of God’s presence in our lives, through whom we receive Love, Peace and Joy. The skit was filled with short snips of beautiful Christmas carols. The last act for the day was the peppy and lively dance, by the boys of Std IV A to ‘Santa Claus is coming’. Rev Fr Principal, who was “pleasantly surprised with the felicitation”, then spoke, thanking everyone, namely Rev Fr Rector, the Head Teacher Ms Griselda, the class teachers Ms Kashmira, Ms Mural, Ms Jessia and Ms Aashna, Sir Saby, the parents, the support staff and the students too, for the lovely production and wonderful performances. The Vote of Thanks was given by the Primary Captain, Liam Sequeira. Std IV B boys, thanked everyone present in song to the wonderful tune of ‘Feliz Navidad’ to conclude a very memorable cultural day. The audience applauded at many different moments which kept the students spirit high.
To quote, Mrs. Mazgaonkar and Mrs. Amy Pinto said that this was their “best ever” cultural day experience in their four years at Don Bosco Matunga. The tireless efforts of the Head Teacher, the teachers, the enthusiasm of the students and co-operation of the parents were clearly visible on this day. This day was a perfect example of dedication and team work.
