The beginning of a new academic year brought the entire parent teacher body of the secondary section on June 20th, 21st and 22nd to partner in the colossal undertaking of educating our young men. The Rector, Rev. Fr. Wilfred D’Souza sought the blessings of the Almighty to make this academic year a fruitful one, and declared the theme for the year- ‘Don Bosco Lives On.’
Our Principal, Rev. Fr. Bernard Fernandes shared the happy news of the commendable performance of our SSC students. Fr. Bernard introduced the staff and stressed the rules mandated by the institution, from checking the school handbook to ensuring the grooming of the boys, as well as the protocol in case of absenteeism. He also informed the parents about the new school app, stating that all official correspondence would be through the same.
Parents were urged to gain from opportunities available to the academically weaker and especially the learning disabled students, as Don Bosco Matunga ensures a good support system through remedial education and detailed guidance in order to avail of concessions at the board level.
Parents were also urged to profit by the ‘Mykensho’ Career Guidance programme for students of classes VII to X, so as to enable them to make informed choices regarding further education.
Fr. Bernard then shared school news, from the new address for our Kindergarteners to the major refurbishment that was accomplished during the holidays.
The parents, along with the respective class teachers, then went on to elect the parent representatives who form the executive committee of the PTA, and work this academic year in the best interest of our children.
