The Climate Action Week
-Miss Yugandhara Kaskar

‘I don’t want your hope. I don’t want you to be hopeful. I want you to panic…and act as if the house is on fire.’ -Greta Thunberg, the young climate action activist.
To create awareness on the increasing effects of human activities on the nature and the future of our planet Earth, the Green Line organization organized a climate action week. The Nature Club students of Don Bosco High School, Matunga with students of 4 other schools attended this session on the 22nd of September, 2019.
The session was activity based, wherein the students were divided in groups and given various tasks. They learnt about the effects of global warming and climate change. They were made familiar with the Earth’s atmosphere, the carbon cycle, etc. The students were introduced to Greta Thunberg, a 16 year old Swedish girl who has been creating awareness about climate change. They were taught about pollution management based on which they had to write preventive measures to reduce pollution and were asked to present it.
The session ended with a vote of thanks to the volunteers and a group photograph. It was an enriching experience for every participant.
