Successful career options for students – Times NIE Seminar
-Ms. Dipti Shah
A workshop/Seminar was conducted on SUCCESSFUL CAREER OPTIONS FOR STUDENTS by TIMES NIE at the PRINCIPALS MEET SEMINAR on 26th November at Grand Hyatt. Ms. Dipti represented the school at this seminar.
The resource team comprising Sameera Iyengar, Nilesh Kulkarni, Jaspinder Narula and Manisha Kelkar laid emphasis on the importance of the students immersing themselves wholly into the career they opt for and complete the course no matter what is the determinant. The students will find the motivation and support along the way. Off stream careers are also amazing and the students need to learn by doing.
Students need to express and learn; learning life lessons through academics is mandatory. This will enable them to be at a brilliant space in real life situations. The school environment which fosters and encourages a holistic development of the child is very important in moulding a child. There was a suggestion for the need of parent engagement at every stage of growth. Hence parents could be resource persons in our institutions at assemblies to impart skills and ignite young minds.
There were other relevant inputs by the resource persons at the seminar. One of them opined that the future is technology driven and so career options should be technology driven. Ability to learn is good, but ability to work is of greater importance. Parents shouldn’t pressurize their children to be successful but rather nurture in them the ability to learn and then work. Students will enjoy the process of learning and working and failure is an important ingredient in life’s learning curve.
The seminar focused on the child and the need of accompaniment at their important stages of growth and choice of career options. As educators we ought to be motivators and guides.
