On the occasion of its Centennial Celebration, St. Joseph’s High School, Wadala, organised a Guidance Seminar for students of Std. 10 of the neighbouring schools at Shanmukhananda Hall. Rev. Fr. Godfrey D’Sa (Manager) and Ms. Sangeeta Bhattacharya, the HM, were the hosts of the programme. The programme began with Ms. Prabha, the supervisor of St. Joseph’s High School, Wadala, welcoming everyone present for the seminar. It was followed by a welcome song’ Hope in Front of Me.’
There were eight speakers. Dr. Kersi Chavada – a psychiatrist, was the first of the speakers at the seminar. In his talk, he called upon the parents to encourage, motivate and develop a positive attitude towards their children. Next, some representatives from the organization ‘A Million Pledges’, created by the alumni of St. Joseph’s, encouraged parents as well as students to donate or at least pledge to donate their organs after death. The second speaker of the day was Ms. Shailaja Mulay. Mrs. Mulay gave the students tips on how to study and score good marks in English. Dr. Jayshree Atre explained the importance of each and every chapter of Mathematics in detail. Prof. Dr. Mrs. Chayya Patel shared guidelines on how one could score good marks in Hindi. Mrs.Gouri Dighe guided the students in the subject of Science while Dr. Sneha Joshi suggested sure-shot methods to score good marks in Marathi. The last speaker for the day was Dr. Harish Shetty. Dr. Harish explained the importance of preparation without distraction, thereby increasing scores.
The seminar was meticulously planned and efficiently executed. Students, parents and teachers in unison expressed that it was a very informative guidance seminar and were thankful to the school for this opportunity.
