Some of us evolve differently….
Krish Fernandes – X C
On 10th July 2019 class 10th C performed an assembly that prompted the audience to review their outlook regarding the third gender. It was indeed a very bold and courageous move by the class teacher Ms. Sonali D’Silva and as our Rector Rev. Fr. Crispino D’souza and Principal Rev. Fr. Bernard Fernandes said, it was quite different from the typical class assemblies staged in the school. This unusual topic did not deter the will and enthusiasm of the class to stage the play, rather they pulled off a grand act that was well coordinated and performed.
The assembly portrayed an event from the life of Thomas Edison on the manner in which his mother worked to bring out the best in him and helped him in his transition from being a failure to being a renowned inventor. Then arrived Gayatri, narrating the real life story of her transgender mother Gauri Sawant who defied all odds and broke all stereotypes of the society while also ensuring that her daughter was raised up well.
Master Arya Naik played the role of Gauri Sawant, and he was indeed outstanding and oozed tons of confidence and free vibes. The act was quite bold, and it proved to be an eye opener for the students to the throes facing the transgender group. The class assembly created a deep impact on everyone’s mind and outlined the importance of each of us making a difference in someone’s life.
