The boys of N C C were very excited about the overnight trek to Harishchandragad. All of us were asked to assemble in school at 6.00 a.m. on 25th Feb. Under the guidance of Sir Shukla (NCC coordinator) the group started their journey from the school. All the boys were very enthusiastic about the whole trip.
We stopped briefly for snacks at a dhaba. It took nearly 4 hrs to reach the base. There we all had lunch and then started the climb after a little rest. It was extremely hot and the initial climb seemed very tough. We took little halts along the way to reach in the beautiful sunset amongst the Sahayadris. Slowly and steadily we reached the summit. There was a Ganesh temple behind which there was a cave called Kedareshwar Cave. As night approached, it grew darker, we were allotted tents to sleep. Five students in one tent. We had a bonfire and noticed that there were many other campers too. We had games organized for us, and the games continued till late night. The night was very cold and windy. We were served local food like bhakari by villagers. In the morning as we got up with the sun, we went about doing our daily chores.
We had a tempting breakfast coupled with few group photos. We then packed our belongings and started our descent. We then reached Nagar highway where we stopped for lunch and then proceeded towards Mumbai. We came back safely to school at 5.00 p.m on 26th February enriched and delighted.
