Honouring our Principal’s 25 years of service to God and His people!
-Ms Jansi Dharamraj

And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. -Hebrews 12:1-2
On 18th December, 2019 the first day of Christmas Panorama, the schedule was aptly planned for the celebration of not only Christmas but the silver jubilee celebration of Fr. Bernard Fernandes, the school Principal as well.
The staff gathered at the crypt of the Our Lady Help of Christians Shrine for the Eucharistic Celebration to begin the sacerdotal Jubilee celebrations of Fr. Bernard. The staff of Don Bosco High School, Matunga, representatives from Don Bosco International School, Matunga, St. Joseph’s High School, Wadala, well wishers and few family members of Fr. Bernard were present in the crypt to celebrate this special occasion.
The main celebrant was Fr. Bernard Fernandes, the Principal, and the concelebrants included the Rector Fr. Crispino D’Souza, the Administrator Fr. Elson Baretto, Fr. Roy Noronha, Fr. Glen Lowe, Fr. Mylin Noronha, Fr. Vivian D’Souza, Fr. Leon Rodrigues, Fr. Goyal Anthony and Fr Vinod Mascarenhas. The homily by Fr. Crispino D’Souza highlighted the qualities required by us to sustain good relationships viz. ‘Prayer Love Ownership Openness’ (PLOO). Fr. Bernard Fernandes narrated his journey from a young boy to becoming a priest and how God systematically brought out His plan for him through his teachers and family members.
At the end of the mass Fr. Bernard Fernandes extended his gratitude to the entire congregation and all others who made this day memorable one for him.
Immediately after the mass, Fr. Bernard along with his family members were escorted by the Vice Principal Sir Cliffrichard D’Souza and the uniformed troupes to the school quadrangle. Here, the celebration commenced with a prayer for Fr. Bernard by a student. The primary students staged a beautiful dance that depicted God’s mercy and grace. The adorable students of the pre-primary section brought the Goan tradition alive-taking Fr. Bernard to his ancestral roots in Goa-through a dance choreographed to a Portuguese popular song.
Fr. Crispino spoke on the attractive qualities of Fr. Bernard describing him a humble and simple gentleman; a man soaked in prayer. One of the most outstanding features of Fr. Bernard leading a school is his daily practice as a Principal to guide the whole school in prayer and meditation everyday at the morning assembly praying for the different intentions of staff and students.
Fr.Bernard expressed his heartfelt thanks to all the staff and students for the celebrations and for making his sacerdotal Silver Jubilee a memorable one.
In the evening a reception and dinner were hosted for the family and friends of Fr. Bernard by the staff of Don Bosco, Matunga on the Primary building terrace.
Thank you dear Father Bernard Fernandes for your faithful service to the God and His people!
