English Elocution Competition Std.1 & 2
-Mrs. Tejashree Vesvikar

“Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words,” as rightly quoted by Robert Frost. The students of Std.1 & 2 of Don Bosco High School Matunga, Primary Section participated in an English Elocution Competition held on January 28, 2020 in Bianchi Hall.
The students were well prepared for the competition. After a series of auditions in the respective classes, three students from each division were selected for the competition. There were 12 finalists in all.
The eminent judges for the day were Mrs. Kanta Shinde, Mrs. Ruki Jadhav and Mrs. Janet D’Cruz. The judges were cordially welcomed with an introductory note. The participants were judged on the basis of the choice of poem, memory, facial expressions, clarity of speech and voice modulation. The children recited their poem with great confidence.
The competition encouraged all the students to learn the poem and recite it. The healthy competition between students encouraged them to overcome their stage fear. The students learnt to express themselves before the audience. Mrs. Janet D’Cruz, our ex-teacher encouraged the students with her thought provoking words.
