-Master Kenneth Rodrigues 9 D
Three students of Don Bosco High School, Matunga, Master Jaden Menezes 9D, Master Swayam Singh 8C and Master Kenneth Rodrigues 9D participated in the Florrie Sopher Inter-school Elocution Competition held at the E.E.E. Sassoon High School. This competition is held yearly, by Mr. Solomon Sopher in honor of his mother, the late Mrs. Florrie Sopher. The competition was in its silver Jubilee this year, and hence it was held on a grand scale.
The first round was held on the 12th of February 2018. Of the 72 participants from around 30 schools across Mumbai, all three of our participants were among the twelve students to qualify for the final round, which was held the following day.
The Chief Guest on this occasion was Rabbi Ya’aqob Menashe from the U.S.A. Yaakov Finklestein (The Israeli Consulate General) was also present. The judges were Ms. Victoria Sloan, Mrs. Vispi Balaporia and Mr. Judah Samuels. The twelve participants were given three minutes each to express their opinions on one of the following topics: Importance of The World Day of The Poor; Corruption is the only cause of a country’s failure; A Bad Habit comes as a slave but stays as a master; The mass media influences and shapes our opinions. Even though there was tough competition from the other schools, our boys worked hard collectively to win and bring home the prestigious “Florrie Sopher inter-school Elocution competition – Senior Group – Rotating trophy”.
