Deck the class with boughs of holly, ’tis the season to be jolly Fa-la-la-la-la
-Ms Lynette Remedios
Christmas is the season of joy, peace and happiness. It is a special season set aside to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. Preparations in the KG section began in full swing. Tastefully decorated school campus adds charm and religious fervour to the atmosphere.
Soaking in the spirit of Christmas the boys of the Pre-Primary section had their Christmas Party on 17th December, 2019. The children of Sr KG were awestruck as they entered their classes which were decorated by their parents. The parents put in the extra effort just to see a smile on their children’s faces. Nostalgia set in for the Sr KG boys as they had completed a year in the school. As for the Jr KG boys, they were transfixed at the decorations in the class. The classes were decorated with dazzling streamers, tinsels, bells, stars, candle, wreath, Santa Claus, Santa’s caps and stockings, holly leaves, candy sticks, mistletoes and so on. Each class had a beautifully decorated Christmas tree and a crib. The crib played an important role when the teacher narrated the story of Christmas through each figurine which made it an interactive session for the children. The children were also told about the legend of Santa Claus and also inculcated the values of caring and sharing.
The section was vibrant with boys in their colourful attire donning Santa caps. The teacher maintained the spirit of Christmas by connecting with movies, pictures and carols. Carols were sung and were heard throughout the day.
The boys were overjoyed to see Santa Claus in their classes and happily received their gifts. Games were played related to Christmas theme in each class like passing the Christmas tree, dressing your friend with Santa’s cap, bursting balloons, etc. Winners were awarded prizes. Christmas sweets were shared during snacks time as a gesture of love and sharing.
Children unfolded their creative abilities through a string of activities. They had lovely time colouring candy sticks and stockings and decorated them with beautiful stickers. A dance session was scheduled at the end and the children danced with gaiety which gave a flavour to the party. The boundless joy of celebrating the festival was visible on the faces of all the children.
