CARE FOR CREATION

7  December, 2016

Ms. Barkha Shah

The students of Std IX F conducted their assembly on 7th December, 2016. The assembly began with a meditation session by Ms. Elizabeth. The skit by the students then followed. It started with the students boasting about Don Bosco Schools aiming at an all round development of children through various outdoor activities. The nature club students of the school visit the Marathwada village of Maharashtra for a field trip organised by the school. Upon reaching the place, they witness the harsh realities and sufferings of people- fights for water leading to unrest between people, dry rivers and hand pumps, drought situation leading to crop failure. The dramatic dance shown by the frustrated farmers served as an eye opener to the tragic suicides among the farmers.

The empathetic students having faith in their abilities offer solutions such as growing drought resistant Acacia plants, making rainwater catchments, building johads and writing letters to the authorities aiming to bring tangible change in the lives of the people. The skit ended with the speech given by a student acting as Fr.Provincial on the occasion of the World Environment day. He attributed the various environmental issues like droughts in the world to the climate change.
