Birthdays-A Celebration of Life
Ms. Tejashree Vesvikar
Many things have changed in recent weeks owing to the pandemic that has hit the world and where staying in confinement is the new normal now. However, birthdays remain one of the constants. Keeping in mind social distancing the celebration of birthdays has become unique and special. On April 15, 2020 our dearest Rev Fr. Elson Baretto, Administrator of the School who has completed over 36 years of priestly service celebrated his birthday marking another milestone in his life.
The staff and students of Don Bosco High School, Matunga celebrated Fr. Elson’s birthday virtually using the latest technology. The Principal Fr. Bernard Fernandes, began the day with birthday wishes, prayers and blessings for Fr. Elson on the School Whats App group. Master Liam Sequeira, Captain of the Primary section, addressed Fr. Elson on behalf of the staff and students of the Primary Section virtually through a video recording offering his best wishes and prayers. Mrs. Griselda Fernandes, Head Teacher of the Primary section created a pretty birthday card on behalf of the staff; she also put together a video clip of all the primary teachers wishing Fr Elson all the best.
The staff of the Secondary section collated many well captured moments in photographs of Fr. Elson for this special day with lilting background music and birthday wishes. The students of Std.10 presented themselves in a well orchestrated video singing the birthday song. The Student Council of the school also sang the birthday song in their melodious voices through a video. In a virtual recorded address to Fr. Elson, Master Kyle, a student, assured Fr. Elson of the staff and students being present in spirit to wish him all the best in the year ahead.
Despite the lockdown due to the pandemic, celebrations at Don Bosco Matunga continue in a unique ‘virtual’ way.
