An outing to remember – The annual Scouts and RSP camp

62 Scouts and 44 RSP cadets gathered late afternoon on the school campus on 20th Dec 2017 to proceed for their annual camp from 20th to 22nd Dec 2017. The venue chosen for the all important camp was the picturesque Pinewood Resort, Karjat, Maharashtra. The Scouts were accompanied by their Scout Masters and RSP leaders – Mr. Manoj, Mr. Rajesh, Mr. Sham, Mr. Melvin and Mr. Nihal. They were joined by the AHM, Mr. Clifford and Mr. Chinappa on all the days of the camp. It was the first time that the RSP cadets participated in an overnight camp, and it was an enriching experience for them to be associated with the scouts at the camp this time.
The scope of any camp is to provide not only fun and frolic but also for a deeper look into one’s troop or organization for the execution of the fundamental mission of the movement. Through Recreation, Scouting and RSP achieves its purpose to help young people develop physically, intellectually, socially and spiritually.
Various adventure activities were organized for the boys. These included rappelling, river crossing, bow and arrow, night walk, trek to Kondana caves. The specific RSP activities comprised first aid, road safety, and power point presentations on Road Safety awareness. The additional activities for the scouts included First Aid , knowledge about Scouting Movement, useful knots, whistle signs, use of different stretchers, wood craft signs, reporting, campfire, flag Break and Colour Party.
There was a snake show organized for all. The other attractions at the camp were the swimming pool facilities with slides and a cricket match for the boys during their spare time. Points were awarded for reporting, Rota duty, Discipline, Completion of the given adventure tasks. Prizes were given to the Best Scout Patrol and the Best RSP troop at the camp, besides the best recruit scout and RSP cadet. The troop leaders were also honoured with a certificate of merit. The boys at the camp were paid a special visit by the Principal, Fr. Bernard Fernandes and the Vice-Principal, Fr. Roy Noronha who joined in some of the fun and skilled activities at the site.
