A great day for DBHS Matunga- four alumni ordained priests!
-Mrs Elizabeth Soares
The solemn ordination ceremony of the four new priests-Bosco Carvalho, Mavron Fernandes, Jerome Aruldass and Clarence Martis, all four past pupils of Don Bosco High School, Matunga-was held on our campus on Sat 21st Dec 2019. They were ordained priests by Bishop Bartol Barretto who was the chief celebrant at the Eucharist.
The move to hold the ordination ceremony in the Quadrangle away from the traditional practice of having it in the shrine was to make it something special as all the four ordinandi were our own past pupils.
Our band and choir who played and sang at the ceremony were magnificent and have received glowing compliments from those present at the ceremony. Thanks to the staff (Sir Saby Franco-band, Mrs. Daphne and Sir Sherone-choir) and the children for the many days of preparation and practices. A special mention also of the altar boys (coordinated by Mrs. Elizabeth and Ms. Annabelle) who were present for the ordination ceremony. There were our staff, students and parents in attendance at the ordination. It was indeed a proud moment for all of us at Don Bosco Matunga. As Fr. Provincial mentioned in his congratulatory note to us: ‘Definitely a great day for DB Matunga!’
Mr.Orion Sequeira, a parent quipped, ‘I think every Boscoite should be very proud, to see the 4 Matunga boys, being ordained, on Saturday the 21st of December. The service was heartfelt and beautiful. The choir was excellent and the band was simply amazing. All credit to the management, teachers and sirs for picking and grooming, such exceptional talent. Don Bosco truly lives on! Praise God!’
Mentions Fr. Glenford Lowe sdb in a facebook note: One of the best ordination services I witnessed… your young talent and singing was exceptional. Hope to hear more of the Bosco choir and band!
Our hearty Congratulations to the four newly ordained priests! May they carry forward the work and mission of Don Bosco and be good shepherds after the heart of Christ.
