-Ms. Mohini Goshi

It is very well said, “Better to see something once than to hear about it a thousand times”. Field trips provide a real, first- hand experience. It increases the quality of education, provides accurate information and helps in effective learning.

The boys of Std 1 traveled to Chhatrapati Shivaji Museum on 23rd November, 2017 for their field trip. During their visit, they were shown the different sections comprising animals, birds, mammals and fish. The scenes appeared real and the students received a near real life experience of the animal kingdom. The explanation of the stuffing of the bird and identification of gender was provided by the guides at the museum. The procedures of nest – building by the birds e.g. that of a weaver bird, were also demonstrated.

The children were amazed with their tour of the place and came back enriched having received rich insights. They then proceeded to a worksheet related to the field trip.
