Interschool Maths & Science Quiz and Maths Puzzle competitions

On 24th August 2017, our school held an interschool Maths and Science fair as part of 75th year Jubilee Celebration. The interschool Science and Maths quiz, and Maths puzzle solving competitions formed a part of the package of the Science fair.

The science quiz was conducted in the Bianchi hall by the science club teachers.  The 15 participating schools went through a preliminary written round of which 4 schools qualified for the final round. The 4 qualifying teams introduced themselves by the name of a scientific phenomenon viz. Black hole, Scattering, Stellar and Anomalous expansion. There were 4 rounds of the quiz – scientist round, general round, rapid fire and visual. The participants gave it their best shot and won maximum points for their group. In a closely contested finale, the winners were:

First place – DPYA school, Dadar

Second place – St. Joseph’s High School, Wadala

Third place – Don Bosco High School, Matunga


The interschool Maths quiz competition was held at the same venue following the completion of the Science quiz.  Eight schools participated in the competition.  A preliminary written round consisting of MCQ, puzzles, and logical thinking and reasoning questions, was conducted to choose the best six schools for the next round of the quiz competition.  The penultimate round of the quiz comprised the option round and the ‘fastest flag first’ round after which two teams were eliminated. The remaining four teams battled it out in the final phase containing the’ identify the mathematicians’, puzzle – count the triangles and the rapid fire rounds.

The results were as follows:

First place – St. Josephs High School, Wadala.

Second place – Don Bosco High School, Matunga.

Third place – Dadar Parsee Youth Assembly School, Dadar.


In the interschool Maths puzzle competition 6 schools from the vicinity participated. The puzzles were based on logical thinking like sudoku, missing numbers, ken ken, etc. Each participant was given an hour to solve these puzzles.

The results:

First place – Ms . Tanzeel Velaskar ( Auxilium convent, Wadala)

Second place – Vedant Desai ( D.P.Y.A , Dadar)

Third place – Krish Mehta (Don Bosco , Matunga)


The 3 winning schools/participants were awarded certificates and mementos on the occasion of the school Platinum Jubilee Celebration.
