LIVING THE DBWAY

-Marossa Fernandes

“Every child comes with the message that God is not yet discouraged of man”-Rabindranath Tagore

The staff members that joined Don Bosco High School, Matunga over the last few years attended a session on the DBWAY along with the staff of Don Bosco International School, Matunga on 29th July, 2017 at the Bianchi Hall, Don Bosco International School, Matunga. The session was conducted by Fr. Peter Gonsalves sdb, and was made stimulating through the various videos and cartoon strips drawn by Fr. Gonsalves himself, besides relevant film clippings from movies like “Taare Zameen Par” and “Stanley ka Dabba”. There were group discussions to emphasize and help understand how repression could be curtailed and addressed the DBWAY.

The teachers shared valuable class management techniques using the preventive and expressive methods of education learnt from their personal experiences. Fr. Crispino D’Souza sdb, Rector of Don Bosco High School,Matunga and Director of Don Bosco International School, Matunga, too guided the session by sharing his experience to change a child’s heart by winning his confidence and trust with love. Miss Jansi Dharamraj, teacher at Don Bosco High School, Matunga said, “ I always wondered why God sent me to Don Bosco High School, Matunga and today I know the answer and that I am in the right place. I thank Fr. Peter Gonsalves and Fr. Crispino D’Souza for making me realize this.”

The teachers of Don Bosco High School, Matunga are determined, like Don Bosco, to educate and enrich the lives of the students with love, respect and firmness and not with the stick and rod.
