The inter-school basketball extravaganza began on 7th April 2017 and ended with the grand finale on 19th April 2017. This sporting mega event – the 3rd Don Bosco Cup – that was a part of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations of the school, brought together 102 teams from 26 different schools of the city of Mumbai. A total of 10 championship trophies were up for grabs in five age groups for boys and girls. Close to 150 matches were played over the 12 days of the tournament, and some breathtaking skills and nail biting finishes were witnessed during the entire duration of the competition. It was also an occasion for young children to interact with one another and exchange pleasantries on and off the court. The school band was in attendance on the final day, and the lively numbers played by the band players matched the festive spirit in the stands and the dazzling display on the basketball court. Fr. Crispino D’Souza, Rector and Principal of Dominic Savio School, Andheri, was the Chief Guest for the finals, and he, along with the Principal of Don Bosco, Matunga, Fr. Bernard Fernandes, gave away the prizes to the winners of the competition. We extend our gratitude to the organizers – the basketball coaches, Sports Coordinator – the sponsors, the parents, our team of student volunteers, the officials, and the participating teams who contributed to the resounding success of the mega tournament.
